Abstract
The significance and effects of mosquito on man can never be overemphasized. No human being or other primates can live without good health, as the “adage” says that health is wealth. The aim of this study is to find out or reveal the effect of mosquito on man. It is also to create awareness to the society on the danger of mosquito, especially Ovia North East local government area of Edo State. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study and a simple randomized system was adopted for this study in the selection of the 800 respondents. Less than one-tenth of the respondents (5.4%, n=43) reported that Plasmodium falciparum is the most common species that causes malaria. More than half of the respondents (53.5%, n=427) had treated mosquito net in their rooms, however only three hundred and thirty eight (42.3%) between of them reported that they sleep under the mosquito treated net. The effect of these findings was discussed suggestion and preventives or control measures were recommended.
